Applications Now Being Accepted for Images 2024 Exhibition

The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts has issued the Call for Entries for its popular juried fine art exhibition, Images 2024.  The exhibition runs from July 1 - 31, 2024 at the Schlow Centre Region Library in downtown State College, Pennsylvania.

Images 2024 is open to artists 16 and older whose primary residence is in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Eligible 2D media include drawings, paintings, pastels, mixed media, photography, hand-pulled prints, watercolors, fiber, paper, and digital art.  Digital images of original work produced after January 1, 2021 may be submitted.  The entry deadline is May 3. Danny Volk, Assistant Curator of the Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg, PA will be the juror for this year’s exhibition.  Previously he was the Terra Foundation for American Art Curatorial Fellow at The Westmoreland where he organized Breaking Ground: Landscape and Labor in Southwestern Pennsylvania in 2023. Previous curatorial projects include Made-Up with Danny Volk at Screen Share at the University of Chicago, The Baby Gap, at Outhaus (Urbana, IL), Submissive Exhibitions at The SUB-MISSION (Chicago), and The News Gallery at SPACES (Cleveland). He has received grants from the Knight Art Challenge Grant through the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Akron Community Foundation Grant, DCASE (City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events) Individual Artist Program Creative Project Grant, Propeller Fund Grant, and the Mary E. Hofstetter Legacy Scholarship for Excellence in the Visual Arts from the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada, and he completed an MFA from The University of Chicago in 2014.

The juror will award a total of $1,800 in cash prizes as follows: Best of Show ($500), Best Painting ($200), Best Pastel ($200), Best Photograph ($200), and 4 merit awards ($150 each).  There is also an award for Best Student Submission ($100).  Winners will be announced at an Awards Reception during the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts on July 11, 2024.

The Arts Festival receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and additional grant support from the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau and Centre County Commissioners.
