Berks Arts presents the 20th annual Frank Scott Memorial Art Show: The Art of Jazz in the Schmidt Gallery at the GoggleWorks in March and the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading in April 2024.

Founded in 2005, The Art of Jazz honors the legendary local jazz musician Frank Scott. The Art of Jazz exhibits annually in coordination with Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest. Submission is open to artwork in all media. Accepted artwork will be announced mid-February.

Meet the 2024 Juror: Mark Bischel

Mark Bischel is an artist and teacher in New York City. His work has been represented in numerous solo and group exhibitions over his career and in such collections as Harvard Business School and the Artists’ and the Fine Press Book Library of the National Gallery of Art. His illustration work has also been recognized in The Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts magazine, Spectrum, and the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles. Illustration clients include the Los Angeles Times, the Boston Globe, Simon & Schuster, Oxford University Press, NBC, and the Harry S. Truman Library. He has taught drawing and illustration at the Kansas City Art Institute, The Maryland Institute, College of Art, and School of Visual Arts. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Animated Arts Program at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.
