How to Enter

Submissions are now closed. The deadline was January 9, 2017

Physical artwork submitted for Fast Lane Art 2017 must be delivered to Berks Arts Council for exhibition at the Fast Lane Art Unveiling Event. Artwork intake is from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, January 18-20.

  • Artwork must be original artwork created after January 2014.
  • Artwork must be submitted in a 7” x 20” format for reproduction on a billboard.  Original artwork can be any size as long as the electronic submission is scaled to 7″x20″
  • In all media will be reviewed; there is no theme or other restriction for artwork submitted.
  • Must be submitted on the Fast Lane Art entry pages using our new-improved online portal. Work will be reviewed digitally for acceptance and creation of billboards.
  • Artwork must be submitted in a high-resolution digital format for the jurying process. Billboards of winning submissions will be made directly from the digital image. All artwork should be digitally submitted exactly as the artists would like it to appear on the billboard.
  • Artwork accepted for exhibition must be delivered to the Berks Arts Council office the week of January 16, 2016.
  • Artwork dropped off for exhibition must be exhibition-ready, mattes or frames preferreed
  • Artwork may be sold at auction to raise money for the Fast Lane Art program. Proceeds will be split 50/50 between artist and Berks Arts Council.
  • Artists may submit up to 3 entries



  • HIGH SCHOOL: In addition to having their artwork displayed on a billboard in Berks County, winners of the High School Contest will receive:
    →1st Place –  Alma Woods Memorial Award
    →2nd Place – $250 cash prize
    →Honorable Mention – $100 cash prize
  • NEW FOR 2016! Special Prizes sponsored by Freedom Auto Group
    →$1000 “Freedom of Expression” school prize
    →  $500 “Freedom of Expression school prize
    →  $200 “Freedom of Expression school prize
    →  $100 “Freedom of Expression” student cash prize chosen by the Freedom Team
  • PROFESSIONAL: In addition to having their artwork displayed on a billboard in Berks County, winners of the Professional Contest will receive:
    →1st Place –  Jack Coggins Memorial Award
    →2nd Place – $250 cash prize
    →Honorable Mention – $100 cash prize


  • High School Students: Thanks to our sponsors, student entries are  free! No more than three entries per student will be accepted.
  • Professional $20 per entry for first 2 entries; third entry is free. No more than 3 entries per artist will be accepted. Contact Berks Arts Council for entry fee waiver on third entry.


  • All judges, Berks Arts Council Staff/Board Members, Fast Lane Art Committee members and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.
  • All reasonable care and security measures will be taken in handling and displaying artwork submitted.  Artists are responsible for insuring their work.
  • At the Unveiling Event, artists may choose to sell their artwork. Proceeds will be distributed 50/50 between the artist and BAC.  If you need assistance with pricing, please let Berks Arts Council know
  • All entrants grant permission to Berks Arts Council (BAC) to publish and/or broadcast the names and photographs of the finalists and the winning entries through print and electronic media in relation to publicizing Berks Arts Council and Fast Lane Art. Artist retains rights to original image.
